Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is a very fast pace game, that can be played over and over again because the level's don't get boring fast. There are many sequels to this game and each have different level's from the previous game. The original sonic game was created in 1991 by a Japanese man called Yuji Uekawa, you could play this game on the SEGA Megadrive (SEGA Genesis). The main character, Sonic the Hedgehog, was originally named Mr. Neddlemouse. In all of the Sonic games, Sonic has an arch nemesis originally called Robotnik then his name was eventually changed to Eggman. The aim of the game is to complete each level by following the track all the way to the end trying to collect the rings that are scattered all around the track.

Sonic also has a competitive side seeing who is able to complete each level with the fastest time. Also in the second game another companion to Sonic was added called Tails this allowed a multiplayer option this means that a friend can connect another controller so you can help one another complete the levels easier and adds more fun. Tails has his own colour scheme he is yellow. In this game a competitive mode was added so that 2 friends can control the two characters Sonic and Tails and compete to see who is better on a certain level.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 3 a new character was introduced called Knuckles, he was a playable character alongside Sonic and Tails. Knuckles had their own colour scheme also he was red, having each character an individual colour helps the player know which character is which.

Sonic Boom is the newest Sonic game that has been released and because the series has been going on for along time now I feel that they are running out of good ideas so as the games have gone on they have been increasingly worse.

Mario

Mario is probably the most famous 2D platformer game. Super Mario Bros was the first Mario game which was played on the NES console. Super Mario Bros was created in 1985 by Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario's original name was Jumpman in the Donkey Kong series, this was the first game for Mario (Jumpman) to every appear in. Mario had a hat because realistic hair was fairly difficult to portray back then. He has a moustache to make his pretty big nose stand out and he wore dugerarees to make his arm movements more noticeable.

Mario's enemy in the game is Bowser whom was meant to look like a dragon but because an animator called Yoichi Kotabe misinterpreted the sketch to be a turtle that is what he became. In Mario there is a variety of unique enemy's from plants that chomp on you to turtles that throw boomerangs. I think that having various enemy's makes the game easy to remember and a lot more fun.


The latest Mario that has been released was Super Mario 3D world, in this game it using a whole new aspect to gaming, it uses 3D to play this game you need to get the Nintendo 3DS, however the name you don't have to play it in 3D because on the 3DS you can change the setting on and off for the 3D mode. I think that the older versions of this game are a lot more enjoyable to play however the newer games are just as fun.
